Our history
From the first study of personal computers to the economics of AI infrastructure, Creative Strategies has evolved alongside Silicon Valley.
Larry Wells and David Norman left SRI to create a high-tech research firm. The company became known for major reports on minicomputers, storage, worldwide communications, and international data traffic.
Stanford intern Trip Hawkins wrote what became the first study about personal computers. A young Steve Jobs challenged its assumptions, then hired Hawkins as Apple’s first director of market research. Hawkins later founded Electronic Arts.
Tim Bajarin joined as the first full-time PC analyst. He worked with the IBM PC team on retail, business, and consumer demand and consulted on the laptop project that became ThinkPad, while advising Compaq, HP, Apple, Adobe, Epson, Lotus, and others.
When owner Business International planned to move the San Jose staff to New York, the management team led a leveraged buyout so Creative Strategies could remain independent and continue covering technology from Silicon Valley.
Tim Bajarin took over the company and shifted its focus toward high-tech consulting and specialized technology research, becoming a noted technology visionary, futurist, and advisor.
After nearly 40 years, Tim transitioned leadership to Ben Bajarin, who became CEO. Carolina Milanesi became President, positioning Creative Strategies for the next era of technology change.
